Notice the difference? The main difference is my huge grin after being reposted to the main page.

There is a real difference in the first picture the car is covered in water spots, the bane of anyone with a black car. You just cant see it because the HTC One has a crappy camera. All clean now and still smiling.

Does anyone have any weird car washing habits?

For me its the order in which i wash, its always roof, greenhouse, hood, deck lid, sides, front fascia, rear end, wheels, wheel wells, exhaust.

This is worst car commercial of all time.

I hope that kid hangs himself because he parents drove a Prius and Mary Jo Snethkamp wouldn't date him because he was such a dork.

On second thought, that's a bit harsh, I hope that kid gets treatable VD from a good time girl in college after coming into his own and buying a Trans Am to make up for lost time.

that is pretty much standard procedure the first steps at least.

You dont wash the sides of the car first and then go wash the dirty roof so that the dirty water comes down again on what you already cleaned.

Question: what do you guys do to prevent water spots or get rid of them afterward? If it's not a buff/polish day, I usually end up going over the car with quick detailer or window wash (essentially the same stuff).

Depending on the type of water spots, Either vinegar, yeah weird i know. or a good buff polish.

I've got some deep shit I can't get rid of without a wet sand, and that's out of the question because it's 18 year old OEM clear. Tried vinegar, clay powder, everything under the sun. :(

What about the stuff that invariably shows up during drying the car? I've got hard water over here, so even drying it piece by piece as it gets washed leaves some stuff.

Keep the car wet whilst drying, on hot days i have literally sprayed the section with the hose, wash, rinse, and keep spraying until i can dry properly.

But how do you dry? I have one of those pink "The Absorber" things and even it still leaves tiny, tiny speckles. It's not soap spots but minerals from the water, so continuous rinsing doesn't help.

I've got some bad ass micro fiber towels. I dry in two quick passes.

Brand? I've got some Meguiar's MicroFiber towels that are pretty awesome, but only two and two is not enough to dry. I might get more if that's what works...

How big is your car? Mine is 202.5 inches long.

I've got two of the cheap Advanced Auto MicroFiber drying towels.

It's a C4 Corvette, so...*looks it up*... 176 inches.

These aren't drying towels I have, my mistake in diction. They are rag-sized. Thus, takes forever to dry with them because I spend as much time wringing as I do wiping.

What I usually do is wipe with the Absorber until it's just micro droplets and then go over it with two microfiber cloths, one behind the other.
